Daisypath Anniversary tickers

Ok we are back from Vegas and boy am I tired. I am getting too old for this. Anyways, my sister's and I had a blast going the Lady Gaga concert and just hangin out in Vegas. I love Vegas. I could go every year, well maybe if I didn't have a child. It such a cool place to visit and have fun. I know that Las Vegas is trying to be more family friendly but I couldn't imagine taking a small child there let alone several. It is a great place for singles, couples, groups of friends, but they are not selling me on the family oriented atmosphere. Enough rambling, I know Lady Gaga dresses crazy, but she is an amazing artist and performer. I recommend every one seeing her in concert. Well, just a quick post, I will post a couple of Vegas pics soon. Working three days this week and then leaving for Myrtle Beach on Sunday. 6 days with just Chris, Lilly, and I and the beach. I can't wait!

Chihuly nights Cheekwood 2010

These are a few if the pictures from the Chihuly blown glass art exhibit that Cheekwood is hosting through October 2010. It is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend it. Just a short blog today. Need to do some house cleaning before Chris's 10 year high school reunion tonight.

OMG! I am such a slacker.

Ok, so I haven't blogged since March. I have been busy, but there really isn't any excuse. So, lots to catch up on. I have been working like crazy both at Vandy and and UMC. We have had so many extra curricular activities to pay for, so I thought we could use the money. In May we went to Dollywood, Lilly just loved it. In June we went to Holiday World and I have to say it is one of the best theme parks I have ever been to. We are going again this weekend. I really hope Chris will be able to go, but his job is talking about working this weekend to help with the back to school rush they are experiencing.

Lilly started her tumbling class in June at C-factor athletics and she loves it. Even thought her flipping backwards really makes me nervous.

Two weeks ago, Chris and I went to Chicago to celebrate our 2 year anniversay. It was a great trip, just Chris and I, but we missed Lils like crazy. I will post pics soon. Next weekend, August 6th and 7th is Chris's high school reunion. I think I am more excited than he is, but it will be neat to meet all his friends from high school. The second weekend in August, my sisters and I will be going to Las Vegas to see Lady Gaga in concert and to celebrate my 27th birthday. Then the following week will be the Wilson County fair and then we leave on the 22nd to spend a week at Myrtle Beach. I am so excited! I will blog about each of these events as they take place.
Sadly, the summer is coming to an end, but we are sure going out with a bang. Then all our fall events will start.
Lilly back in mother's day out in September, and she is going to start playing soccer, but more about those things when it gets closer for them to start. Hopefully, I will be better about blogging in a more timely manner.

Tired!

Ok, words can even describe what a slacker I have been with my blog postings. Not that I have a ton of followers or anything, but I really want to be better about it. So, lets just say that February was a crazy busy month. I switched positions at Vandy and I love it in the Pediatric PACU! Not to mention the schedule is fantastic. Plus I have been picking up a lot of extra days in the ED at UMC. Not my favorite area to work in, but its close to home, the money is great, and the people who work there are some of the nicest people around. I am hoping to slow down working in April, but we will see.
We are planning some trips for the summer and I am super excited. Chris and I are wanting to go to Chicago in July to celebrate our 2 year anniversary. There is so much I want to see and do there, especially going to a Cubs game. So, we are looking into booking that soon.
I am trying to book, for the end of August or early September, our big family vacation. We are looking at going to Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area in Alabama. Lilly has not been to the beach yet and we are really looking forward to taking her. I can't wait to get to the beach!
Also, I am really excited about the next couple of weeks in March. I have signed up to take a couple of intro to photography classes with Dove Wedding Photography in Nashville. A friend of mine from high school took these classes last year and has started her own photography business. I am not sure if that is the exact route I want to take, but I do want to learn to take good pictures, especially since I do have a beautiful 3 year old girl who is very photogenic. So, I will keep you posted on how the classes go.
Well, I am promise I will be better about keeping the blog updated. Hope you guys have a great rest of the week.

Snow in Tennessee

Yae for snow! We got in the storage building this morning, and found a sled my parents had left in there when they moved. (for those who don't know, Chris and I bought my parents old house when they built their new one). The street in front of our house has a couple of pretty decent hills so we decided to take the sled down them. Now we weren't exactly going as fast as Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation, but it was fast enough for me, especially with a 3 year old sledding. Chris wants to lube up the sled with Vaseline, and take it out again, but I told him Lilly will not be on it when he does.
After sledding, we came back in and drank hot chocolate and ate some Malt-o-Meal. It tasted like childhood. I am so glad Lilly is getting to experience a decent snowfall. Who knows when we might have another one.
Well, I am going to take advantage of being trapped inside and get some serious cleaning and organization done. Happy Snow Day!

Monday, January 25, 2010

Ok, so I am one tired girl and it is only Monday. I worked at UMC from 7am to 7pm then I came home and cooked dinner. Granted it was only chicken nuggets, mac n cheese, and peas. I was still glad we didn't go the fast food route this evening. We eat out entirely too much! I decided while Chris and Lilly watch some tv, I am going to write a little on my blog. I guess what stinks about it only being Monday is that I still have 3 more 12 hr shifts to work this week. Bummer! However, I am looking forward to getting to spend time with my family this weekend. It's my dad's birthday. He is turning 52 and we are going to celebrate by going out to dinner and going to IMAX to see Avatar in 3D. I haven't been to the movies in forever so I am pretty excited. I hope it is good. I hear good things.
Also, I am really excited to say that I am switching to a different department at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. I am leaving the Pediatric Emergency Department and going to work in the pediatric post anesthesia unit. Yae! I worked in the PACU for 2 years while working at UMC and loved it. so I am pretty psyched. the schedule is fantastic as well. I will be working from 930am to 10pm. NO MORE NIGHT SHIFT! well unless I get squirrely and want to pick up one from time to time. I do have to take call but it is every 6th weekend and I only have to take call on one holiday a year. I am so excited. This will be so much better for our family.
Well I am going to get off here. Got to get Lils ready for bed. Goodnight all!

Crafty Southern Mama: EASY No Sew Burlap Project#links

Ok so I am going to post about this give away tonight in case I get caught up in cleaning or more likely napping. Mandy is giving away this awesome burlap table runner. So attractive and yet really easy to make. I hope I win the drawing but I wanted everyone else to get a crack at it as well. She also made these really cute burlap curtains as well. Check them out!

Tired!

It has been a couple of days since I have been able to sit down and update my blog. I have worked the past 2 days, both 12 hr shifts, so I am a little worn down. I am hoping to get some major house cleaning done tomorrow and this weekend. Just wanted to say a quick hello. I will post some more tomorrow. I want to share a link to a blog that has some fabulous home decorating ideas that are easy and inexpensive, so I will be back in the a.m. Now time to crash.

Waiting

I am not a very patient person. You can just ask about anyone who has ever been in a car with me. I pray about it daily but it is still something I really struggle with. Today for instance, we a have guy coming to work on our tv. He had a three hour window to come work on it, and I just now got a message that he is running a little late. This drives me crazy. Its not like I have all day to sit around a wait for him, but inevitably that is how it goes. I have to work at Vanderbilt tonight, a 12hr shift I might add. If this repair guy doesn't get here soon, I am going to miss my nap which isn't good for someone was has been up since 8am and has to stay up all night. Not to mention that I am a little annoyed that we are already having to get service on our tv we just bought this past April(it was not cheap by the way). At least the darn thing is still under warranty, but it is still such a hassle. If you shell out that much money you expect it to work without complications for longer than 10 months.
NOTE: (Samsung LCD 46" tv's made from 2005-2008 apparently have some component that goes out and if it is not under warranty it can cost as much as you paid for the tv to fix it. Just FYI for those looking to buy a new tv.)
On a more fun note, I am going to start a few big projects in the upcoming months. Hopefully taking just one on at a time, but I get so excited about these things I try to do everything at once. We are moving Lilly into a bigger bedroom. That kid has so much stuff she has already outgrown the one she is in. Since we aren't looking to purchase/build a new home just yet, we are just going to do some rearranging. I will post before and after pics once the process starts. I am also looking for a good deal on tile. We had to pull the carpet up in our bonus room in October when our house flooded from all the rain we had. I don't want to put more carpet down with the chance the house my flood again so I going to put tile down. I think it will look great, plus it is much easier to water off of tile than it is to get out of carpet. I will also post pics once that gets started. Anyone that knows where to find a good deal on tile, let me know. Happy Hump day everyone!

Well, the snow did eventually come, just a day late. It was beautiful, but I am not a huge fan of cold weather. I can't imagine what our heating bill is going to be. I think it has been running for 4 days straight. Oh well, I could not have any heat so I will be thankful for that. I didn't get to enjoy the snow that much considering I worked Thursday and Friday night which for me means sleeping all day. Lilly was staying at my parents while Chris and I both worked so she did get to go out in the snow some with her aunt Hayley(my little sister for those who don't know). I am just glad Lilly was feeling good enough to go outside. She still has a cough but no fever. Hayley said they had a good time which makes me happy. I just need to call them to see if they took any pictures.
I am going out to dinner tonight with a few of the girls I went to nursing school with. We were really close during school and we try to see each other at least once a month or every other. It is hard with everyone's conflicting schedules, but I love when we do get to see each other.
Well, I need to get off here to do some laundry. If any pics were taken of Lils in the snow, I will post them soon.

Wednesday, January 6, 2010

So, things have been a little crazy here at the Ferrell household. Lilly has been sick with fever, cough, congestion, and all the fun that goes with that for the last 5 days. We went to the doctor yesterday and she has an upper respiratory infection and an ear infection. Yuck! We started antibiotics, and she is like a new person. Finally, up playing and eating and drinking. I got so worried. Last January we started out with the same symptoms and we wound up staying in the hospital for 7 days with pneumonia and RSV. Thank goodness that wasn't the case this year. I am keeping her home from school tomorrow just to be safe and hopefull next week we can get back to some sort of routine. Today I have been cleaning and disinfecting like a mad woman to hopefully prevent future sickness. Stay away germs!

I am also trying to prepare for all this snow we are supposed to be getting tonight. We are good on food and groceries. Thank goodness! People in TN go crazy at the first word of snow. I am so glad I dont have to venture to the store for milk. Of course I have to work Thursday and Friday night at Vanderbilt so I hope the snow isn't too bad or at least has died down before I go in at 7 tomorrow night. Maybe the snow will make for a pleasant evening at work? we shall see. Going to get off here now. More cleaning to do!

New Year, New Blog

Ok, so I thought in 2009 I was going to be this awesome mom/wife and blog all these wonderful fun things my family did. Well, that didn't happen as much so I thought I would start over. It is a new year, always a great time for new beginnings. I have so many friends that blog and I enjoy reading them so much so I really want to have one of my own. My goal is to blog at least once a week, so if I do have any followers please keep me on track if you noticed me slacking. Well, I am gonna half to stop writing now. I work tonight from 7pm to 7am and I need to get a nap in if I am going to make it through the night. Just wanted to make a quick entry and wish everyone a Happy New Year in 2010!

With love,
Ashley
